FAQ

  • HOW MANY GUESTS CAN SHE ACCOMMODATE?

The Flying Fish has spacious accommodation for eight guests in total.

  • WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO CHARTER THE YACHT?

Far north Queensland has average temperatures of around 28 degrees Celsius but has topical climate with high humidity over summer. While heavy downpours can occur without much warning they are usually brief. If you are planning an adventure that is further afield, please take into account that Queensland does have a cyclone season from December to March. All charters are subject to weather conditions.

  • ARE PETS WELCOME?

Unfortunately we do not allow the carriage of any pets or animals on-board the vessel.

  • WILL MY MOBILE PHONE WORK?

Signal strength will vary dependant on position, however a signal is usually available up to 20nM out to sea.

  • WILL I BE ABLE TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET?

Internet is available via your mobile data connection and limited satellite internet is available when there is no mobile coverage.

  • ARE CHILDREN WELCOME?

Children are welcome on the boat, however they require close supervision and it is not recommended to bring small children into a sailing environment. Please discuss bringing children onto M.Y. Flying Fish with crew before booking.

  • CAN WE BOARD FROM SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN PORT DOUGLAS?

Yes, and please note that relocation costs may apply.

  • IS SMOKING ALLOWED?

Smoking is allowed outside on the aft/saloon level deck only. Smoking is not permitted in any interior area of the vessel.

  • WILL I GET SEASICK?

The yacht has a roll control system which helps to ensure smooth travelling, however this has no effect once anchored. We endeavour to plan the best anchorage at the time of trip depending on weather, tides, etc., and this means that at times we need to be flexible with plans and locations for maximum comfort. The weather in some parts of North Queensland can change quickly so episodes of seasickness tend to be short-lived. There are a plethora of herbal and pharmaceutical recipes available, ask your chemist for recommendations. We recommend you start dosage two days before the trip and bring supplies to last the extent of your trip.
